Lead Locomotive Mechanic for Texas New Mexico Railroad

Iowa Pacific Holdings, LLC (IPH) is a holding company for a series of freight and passenger railroads across the country. This position is for a Lead Locomotive Mechanic for our Texas New Mexico Railroad Business Unit located in Eunice, NM.  The successful candidate will report to General Superintendent with additional direction from the Director Locomotive Maintenance.   The Lead Locomotive Mechanic position is responsible for performing various mechanical functions primarily involving the maintenance and upkeep of our locomotive fleet, and vehicle inspection, maintenance and repair. 

Primary Activities and Responsibilities:

 

  1. Perform and supervise locomotive maintenance and repair functions including servicing, daily and periodic inspections, and repair.
  2. Be familiar with Federal Railroad Administration laws as well as railroad operations.
  3. Working knowledge of locomotive maintenance and repair.
  4. Collaborates with other members of team to ensure an efficient operation.

 

Requirements:

  1. High School Diploma or equivalent.
  2. 3-years of experience as a member of a locomotive mechanical team, such as experience as a diesel locomotive electrician.
  3. Ability to climb ladders, use hand tools, operate a locomotive, and worked in confined spaces such as inspections pits, generator rooms, and electrical cabinets.
  4. Must also be committed to promoting a safe workplace.
  5. Must be able to lift more than 50lbs.
  6. Must maintain a valid driver’s license.
  7. The ability to work outside in all weather conditions.
  8. Must be able to climb inside and outside of equipment, and be able to operate heavy equipment, cranes, forklifts, jacking equipment and specialty equipment.
  9. Relocation to Eunice, NM is required.
