Track Laborer for Texas New Mexico Railroad

Iowa Pacific Holdings, LLC (IPH) is a holding company for a series of freight and passenger railroads across the country. This position is for a Track Laborer in our Maintenance of Way department for our Texas New Mexico Railroad (TNMR) located in Monahans, TX.  The successful candidate is responsible for making track repairs and general maintenance of the roadbed.

Primary Activities and Responsibilities:

1. Removal and replacement of spikes, bolts, ties and rail.
2. Shoveling dirt and ballast, cutting vegetation from around material and buildings.
3. Observe conditions of tracks, track beds, and track right of way for problems or defects.
4. Paint railroad signs.
5. Handle and move track materials and equipment.
6. Perform track maintenance, repair, and installation.
7. Work with equipment.
8. Understand and follow company and industry safety rules, practices and procedures.

Requirements:

1. High School diploma or equivalent.
2. Knowledge of and skills in using hand tools.
3. Carry out written or oral instructions.
4. Acquire and maintain a valid driver’s license.
5. Good verbal and written communication skills.
6. Apply concepts of basic geometric math.
7. Must have visual acuity and hearing capability sufficient to perform the essential functions as required by law.
8. Able to comply with FRA track standards.
9. Pass written examinations.
10. Relocation to Monahans, TX/Hobbs, NM is required.
